American Red Cross Kadena Youth Programs
Career Practicum:
Career Practicum is a program that works with Kadena High School students. The program helps the students gain work experience at various locations on Kadena Air Base. The Kadena Red Cross goes to the school and give the students a day workshop on volunteering with the Red Cross. We teach them the importance of loggin hours and the history of the Red Cross organization. All the students in this program will have to sign up with the Red Cross as a volunteer. After the students do the require paperwork, they are allow to go to various job sites including the Red Cross building for work.
Career Practicum opportunities in the Red Cross:
As a youth volunteer there are many opportunites to volunteer inside the Kadena Red Cross building. As of today, we have youth volunteers as receptionists and web designers. The receptionist job entails that you answer the phone, handle walk- ins, and know the daily runnings of the office. You may be asked to file some work, staple pamphlets, or shred unimportant paperwork.
Another youth opportunity in the Kadena Red Cross building, is the chance to become a web designer. Your work entails that you know how to use Html formatting or Facebook. This is a great volunteer opportunity, if you like computers and are interested in the working of a corporate web site. It is an easy working atmosphere, that helps the students grow as people and learn in a corporate setting.
