What You Can ExpectAll disaster assistance from the Red Cross is based upon verified, disaster-caused needs and is provided at no charge to the disaster client. While you are ultimately responsible for your own recovery, Red Cross is here to guide you through the process. When you speak with either the disaster volunteer or a caseworker, you will be asked to provide information about yourself (and your family) and the disaster. This information generally covers your living situation, a brief description of how you were affected, what your recovery plan is and any special considerations, such as medical information. All information collected is confidential and is used to provide Red Cross personnel with the best understanding possible of your specific situation so that we can match our assistance to your needs within the scope of our mission. The disaster volunteer and/or caseworker will guide you through the process. While every case is different and the assistance we provide is tailored to your individual needs, all clients are treated equally-without regard for income level, race, age, gender or any other protected class. For more information, please visit Disaster Services.
