Volunteer Opportunities

 Volunteer opportunities abound with American Red Cross.  Volunteer positions include:

Leadership

Fundraising Chair: Leadership position for American Red Cross Fundraising. Chairs the Fundraising Committee and works with Station Advisory Council to conduct the Derby Day. Organizational and interpersonal skills required.

 

Dental Clinic Chair Leadership position for Dental Assistant Trainees. Liaison with Dental Command, Red Cross and Volunteers. Leadership and people skills required.

 

Youth Chair: Leadership Position to establish Youth Program in Clinic, Schools and with other agencies. Leadership and organizational skills are necessary. Works with diverse age groups. Must be able to clear an extensive background check.

 

Chair of Volunteers Leadership position. Recruits, Screens and places Red Cross volunteers. Organizational and interpersonal skills required.

 

Registered Volunteers

Instructor - Must have public speaking skills! Must be available on weekends and evenings to teach CPR and First Aid, and to cross train to teach Babysitters training. Possibility of teaching during workday, especially Thursdays. Requires four full days of Red Cross training.

 

Pharmacy Worker-Provide support and help with prescriptions at 18th Med Group Pharmacy. Organization, communication, and customer skills are required.

 

Equipment Coordinator - Person ensures Health and Safety Equipment is cleaned and re-stocked after CPR/First Aid classes are taught. Coordinator will develop check out system for equipment and maintain inventory

 

Community Visibility Volunteer-Represents Red Cross at community events, disseminating information and interacting with the public in a positive professional manner. Communication and public speaking skills a must.

 

Volunteer Newsletter Coordinator-Assist Red Cross in communicating information, opportunities, services and programs to volunteers through designing and editing newsletter. Writing, communication and computer skills a must.

 

Disaster Action Team Member- Provide Red Cross response to disaster exercise and single-family fires or fires in quarters. Must be a team player, available for on-call duty some weekends and holidays. Must successfully complete Disaster Services Training, as well as a background check.

 

Clinic Information Worker-Works in the 18th Med Group Clinic at the front desk greeting patients, providing directions and assisting with Red Cross coffee cart. Organizational and interpersonal skills required.

 

Photographer - Assist Red Cross in delivering the mission by digitally recording Red Cross events and services. Must be available during duty and non-duty hours. Photography skills and flexible time are necessary.

 

Caseworker - Initiates and delivers Red Cross emergency communication messages. Provide follow up with command. Must have quality verbal and written communication skills. Works at   Kadena Red Cross Office

 

Receptionist - Friendly person needed to greet people in our office, answer phone and file. Customer service and telephone skills a must. 

 

Dental Assistant Candidate-Training provides 900 hours of chair side dental assisting at Kadena Dental Clinic for chosen applicant.

 

Special Events--Work with Fundraising or other Committees to volunteer during Fundraisers or other community events.

 

How Do I Volunteer?

 

Contact the American Red Cross and schedule an appointment to come up and talk with us about volunteering. Complete the New Volunteer and Employee Orientation and the background check (which takes about a week after completion online). Meet with the respective Chair of the area you would like to volunteer and determine additional training needed.
